My oh my how quickly things have changed. 24 channels of video from one box is theoretically possible now but probably not ready for prime time in the dome. We will keep a close eye on this type of product. See; http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1652779/powercolor-hd5970-display-outputs
Herein lies the beauty of using commodity hardware for immersive systems. Take special note of the article authors description of a "monitor cave". IMERSA may need to create yet another category of immersive environments. Dan

Now safely home from Germany, I am reflecting on the many memorable moments of the past week at the 2010 Fulldome Film Festival. The volcano gods were cooperative and allowed our Lufthansa flight to pass through the North Atlantic via Greenland and safely on to Denver. I was lucky and caught a fantastic view of the snowcaps and glaciers extending Northward to the distance.
BIG THANKS to Volkmar, the team at Jena and many others who were responsible for staging this prestigious international event. A total of five evenings were filled with film screenings and thankfully, plenty of long breaks to chat, grab a bite and sample the local beer.

The quality and range of Fulldome Films that were presented were entertaining and inspiring. We are witnessing the emmersion of a new medium and it is a thrill to participate.

Fulldome Summit and DomeFest 2008 - What an awesome week in Chicago, with IPS 2008 followed by the Fulldome Summit and DomeFest 2008.  Here are some of my highlights from the show:

Dan Neafus and the other founders officially launched IMERSA at the Summit.  Membership Committee Chair Martin Howe brought in nearly $30k in commitments from founding/sponsoring members.  Thank you all for your participation!

Sky-Skan’s 8k x 8k fulldome display demo blew the doors off of 15/70mm film!  It shows how close we are to the fulldome/LF film convergence.
