Tom Casey

Tom Casey is founder of Home Run Pictures. In 1998, at the International Planetarium Society Conference in London, the first public demonstration of fulldome video was shown. The audience responded by standing as they applauded -- a new era in the planetarium world had begun. Those first 90 seconds, a tour through the solar system, were created by Tom Casey and his crew at Home Run Pictures. In the next 15+ years, he directed creation of fulldome content for many different subjects.

Building on his science-related animation experience with documentaries like PBS۪s Life By The Numbers, where Casey directed the creation of animation describing mathematical principles used throughout the series, and for the Discovery Channel, directing visualizations for six popular Titanic programs. He teamed up with the many scientists attempting to solve the mystery of the sinking. He also worked with National Geographic and the Science Channel involving subjects as diverse as paleontology, the human genome, geology, archeology, astronomy and space travel, as well as first of their kind visualizations of NASA supplied data, Casey has continued to demonstrate that he is well-equipped to deal with the educational needs of planetariums.
Tom Casey has developed a strong understanding of the processes and paths involved in successfully producing and filling planetarium domes with dramatic content, treating audiences to many kinds of compelling immersive experiences.
